I've been building websites since I was a teenager — long before anyone paid me to. These days I split my time between two jobs I love: I'm a nurse at a Toledo hospital, and I run Northbeam.

Nursing taught me the thing most web designers never learn: how to listen to someone, figure out what's actually wrong, and fix it without making them feel dumb for asking. Turns out that's most of this job too.

And honestly? My favorite moment in this work is the reveal — sharing a screen with a business owner and watching their face when they see what could be theirs. That look is why the demo comes first. I never get tired of it.

Your email runs on separate records (MX) that I don't touch. Your inbox never blinks through the entire switch.

The part that matters: your domain stays registered in your name the whole time. I never ask you to transfer it. If we ever part ways, I point your DNS wherever you tell me to. It's your address — I'm just the signpost guy.

Okay — what's the catch?

There isn't one. Building your site costs me time, not much money. If you love it, I earn a fair monthly for as long as it's earning for you. If you don't, I've lost an afternoon. I'd rather eat that risk than ask you to pay thousands for something you haven't seen.

What if I pick a really low number?

Then I'll honor it. Genuinely. Most people are fairer than the web design industry assumes. And if your business is just getting started and a small number is what's honest for you right now, I'd rather grow with you than squeeze you.

Who owns the site?

You always own your domain and your content. I build and host the site as part of your monthly. Want to part ways and take the site with you? We work out a fair one-time buyout — no hostage situations, it's in writing.

How fast can you have mine ready?

Usually within a few days of you reaching out. I pull your hours, services, and photos from what's already public, build the first version, and book us a time to look at it together.
